Message 2269 - Posted: 8 Mar 2016, 14:17:35 UTC

As mentioned earlier (under "Project Restructuring"), CMS-dev has evolved into a more general dev project for virtual machine applications running under LHC@home.

We will therefore rename the "CMS-dev" project to "vLHCathome-dev" as it is now a development project for early testing of applications that potentially could run in production under the Virtual LHC@home platform.

The change is planned for tomorrow 13 UTC, and you should later see this project as:
http://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/vLHCathome-dev/

Redirection will be put in place, so in principle BOINC clients should be able to follow. Otherwise please detach the project and re-attach to the new URL at your convenience.

Thanks to your contributions and feedback on tests of our applications, CMS-dev has been a success, and we would like to express our warm thanks for your contributions! :-)

Please note that this remains a development and test project, that might provide unstable applications and that any BOINC credit accumulated here might get lost.

If you prefer to just crunch and get credit, please give priority to our production LHC@home projects.

Many thanks for your collaboration!

... the team

Even when you're able to start a task, we would not get a job, because of the credentials issue already mentioned by Rasputin in the 'issue of the day' thread in 'Number crunching'.

Sorry, it seems we had a bad redirect, but did not see any error in our server logs. Now the app, including vboxwrapper should download ok.

Please let us know if you still see the checksum error.

Ivan: Yes, the invitation code remains the same.

Hmm, did you do an update for the project? For me it downloaded ok and started running.

But there is the credential issue for the VM that we should soon have sorted out with Laurence.

I detached and reattached, but I've been following Dave Colling's meeting so not entirely concentrating. I'll try again.

As a side note:
There are only 21 Boinc-tasks left.
They used to be auto-updating to keep 101 task at all times. If possible, you should keep it that way.

I did the same, detaching and joining at the new address, and get the same checksum errors.

[edit]
This is because [in Windows] files vboxwrapper_26184_windows_x86_64.exe, vboxwrapper_26184_windows_x86_64.pdb and CMS_2016_03_03.VDI are all incorrectly renamed html documents and not the correct files.[/edit]

Message 2291 - Posted: 9 Mar 2016, 18:41:11 UTC - in response to Message 2290.

I got this error earlier when I tried to get new work before detaching and re-attaching:

09/03/2016 13:50:13 | CMS-dev | [error] No start tag in scheduler reply

After re-attaching the error went away.

Now the Boinc task that has completed (Run was in process during the changeover of project name) has been reported but doesn't disappear from the lists of tasks (or appear as finished in my account). The same error about 'No start tag' is present in the event log.

Must be working on that now because I am trying to d/l the new .vdi and it keeps stopping the d/l .....and I keep restarting that d/l

The dreaded 1.23GB .vdi can take a while.

(edit again:trying a reset and it did d/l everything except the .vdi which keeps stopping)

3/9/2016 12:05:06 PM | | Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.

And it finally quit trying to d/l and is just giving me a *download failed * over and over so I will stop trying for now.

It worked for me at home last night, but my two Linux machines here at work still get checksum errors and files 12114 bytes long. I'm suspecting that stale proxy entries in The Great Firewall of Brunel are still pointing at the wrong redirect. The three files are identical HTML:

Either something got fixed in the last ten minutes, or my guess about a stale proxy server was correct. I changed one machine to use an explicit proxy and the downloads went fine! The other machine still gets errors...
[Edit] The second machine works with an explicit proxy too. [/Edit]
