A new 32bit image is now available. As a recent version of CernVM is not available for 32bits, this uses Scientific Linux 6 as the base OS. It follows the same approach as the 64bit version so uses Condor rather than Copilot for job management. The vboxwrapper has also been upgraded to v26196. If anyone knows how to test this on 64bit machine, please could you post the recipe. |

Have a Winxp(x86) pro as a Virtualbox-Guest. This was running wih the old 32-bit up to June this year-(databridge). Computer 1406 have one test with Virtualbox 5.1.4 and one with 5.0.26. Both don't start the virtualbox -Acceleration is not avalaible. This was for the old 32-bit no problem, because it was not used. Will tomorrow make a third test with Virtualbox 4.3.12. |

I am running Theory 26181 on my 32-bit Linux laptop which has no hardware acceleration in its VirtualBox, only KVM Paravirtualization, so I am not sure I will be able to run the new version. It is contributing to MCPLOTS, while my main cruncher, 84554, a Windows 10 PC with 24 GB RAM doing all CERN programs plus Einstein@home on its GPU board, a GTX 750 Ti which earns me a lot of credits, is not seen by MCPLOTS. Under Boinc 7.4.42 with 4.3.12 a task is started in XP-Guest. RDP show: enable clocksource failover kernel parameter. |

I have reverted the vboxwrapper back to the old one (26178) so that it doesn't request hardware acceleration. |

Doesn't work for me on a 32 bit host (BOINC 7.6.22; VB 4.3.12) When checking access to the three CERN sites, gets "Temporary failure of name resolution" for all three checks. Subsequently when trying to get X509 credential, fails 'chmod: cannot access '/tmp/x509up_u0' : No such file or directory , repeated many times, eventually failing [ERROR] Could not get an x509 credential /root/bootstrap: line 130: /usr/sbin/boinc-shutdown: Input/output error |

I have reverted the vboxwrapper back to the old one (26178) so that it doesn't request hardware acceleration. If I try it on a 64 bit host, "as is" this happens 28/08/2016 01:15:52 | vLHCathome-dev | Message from server: VirtualBox jobs require hardware acceleration support. Your processor does not support the required instruction set. BOINC 7.6.22, VB 4.3.26. ....and so to bed. |

This Info is from vboxwrapper 26196: 2016-08-26 07:54:14 (2020): Hardware acceleration CPU extensions not detected. Disabling VirtualBox hardware acceleration support. 2016-08-26 07:54:14 (2020): Disabling hardware acceleration support for virtualization. This Info is from vboxwrapper 26178: 2016-08-27 06:37:45 (3100): Hardware acceleration CPU extensions not detected. Disabling VirtualBox hardware acceleration support. 2016-08-27 06:37:45 (3100): Disabling hardware acceleration support for virtualization. Both finished without hardware-acceleration. Task with vboxwrapper 26178 had very low cpu. Both finished successful and get cobblestones. Boinc 7.4.42 with Virtualbox 4.3.12. Tasks started in XP-Guest(x86) under Win10-Host(x64). |

Task with vboxwrapper 26178 had very low cpu. This was the first test under https. Task finished with Cobblestones. https://lhcathome.cern.ch/vLHCathome-dev/result.php?resultid=260038 |

Task with vboxwrapper 26178 had very low cpu. I get similar errors to yours:- 2016-09-18 12:13:55 (1900): Guest Log: [DEBUG] Testing connection to Condor server on port 9618 2016-09-18 12:14:05 (1900): Guest Log: [DEBUG] nc: getaddrinfo: Temporary failure in name resolution 2016-09-18 12:14:05 (1900): Guest Log: [DEBUG] 1 and:- 2016-09-18 12:17:37 (1900): Guest Log: [ERROR] Could not get an x509 credential I don't think that any useful work is done. Edit:- It would be nice to have one that runs on 64 bit hosts without having to use AP. |

We're getting a spate of name resolution failures on CMS at the moment -- may be related. |

I have just bumped the version to v2.6. This is now using a 32bit version of CernVM rather than native Scientific Linux. Thanks to the CernVM team for doing this custom build for us. |

On my 64bit machine changed the os_name in the Theory_2016_04_30.xml from Linux26_64 to Linux26 so that a 32bit VM is started. I also replaced the Theory_2016_08_05.vdi image with the Theory32_2016_09_21.vdi which I manually downloaded. After doing this the new Theory task started and is running fine. Please post the results of any similar tests, especially if this is on 32bit hardware. |

I didn't get it to work on my Windows64 PC under BOINC due to signature and RSA failures and don't wanted to setup an anonymous platform. But outside of BOINC the 32bit VM is working -> 09/22/16 12:44:57 (pid:3795) ** $CondorPlatform: x86_RedHat6 $ For the ops-project you've to clean the old logs from your testing session. I found three old ones: finished_1.log 21-Sep-2016 14:56 87K finished_2.log 21-Sep-2016 15:10 48K finished_3.log 21-Sep-2016 15:29 73K |

Thanks. Unless anyone discovers a problem, I will release this on Monday. |
