so big the Atlas-Detector is, so big is the network needed at home........

Have a upload of 200Mbyte in ONE Minute and
a download of 425 MByte in ONE Minute.

After this, the download of the workfile (after two minutes running in Boinc) needs also some minutes to download.

Yes, Atlas is only running with a great ISP-Backbone.

The Agile Boincers-Team where inhouse of Cerns-Tier0 or Tier1.
They connected this weekend more than 400 new Computer to their Team.....

Yes Cern added so many computers here for these Atlas-dev tasks it makes my 50 cores look like almost nothing.

I just got home (went to the local bowling alley to play 10 games)

I see I just finished a 19 hour Valid task while I was gone and it got a lot more credits than the 40 hour task did.

Last monday I had to go to the hospital for another Nuclear Stress Test so they give me an IV with 10 millicurie of Technetium and I have had several of them over the years so now I must be ready to climb inside the LHC for a ride at almost the speed of light and get the results at the CMS and Atlas detectors and see if I become a new Elementary Particle

Ah, I know a little bit about technetium cows, we used to make them at TRIUMF when I worked there in the '80s. I'm sure you're aware of just how little Tc-99m remains in your body, due to its half-life. There was a slight cause c'el`ebre in Canberra in the '70s when I helped pay my way through Uni by guinea-pigging for the medical school -- someone got concerned about the amount of tritiated nutrients we were given to consume. I almost certainly got more dose in 20 minutes helping reseat the vacuum seal on the TRIUMF cyclotron than I did from the medical studies.

Yes you were just north of me about 140 miles at the Canada national particle accelerator in Vancouver B.C.
I think TRIUMF is still the world's largest cyclotron.

I see they have the ATLAS Canadian Tier-1 Data Centre for the LHC too.

Reminds me of FermiLab since most people that live around here never heard of either place or what they do.

TRIUMF looks like it is lost in the middle of a forest and Fermilab looks like it is just some buildings surrounded by cow pastures.

I guess they have tours up there every week and I would like to see the place (and more than just a public tour)
And it looks like any Tc-99m I got with the IV came from TRIUMF

I guess we will find out if us getting technetium-99m into our systems are a good thing or not.........I always tell my doctors they can do testing on me as long as the outcome is that I live a couple hundred years and my body returns to what it was like when I was in my 30's

Saturday up north of where I am is the Atlas Masterclass at TRIUMF Vancouver B.C.
(I could probably sneak in there if I used the old satellite dish if they still send the signal via C-band or KU-band)
