Hi. Requests for invitation codes are trickling in, about two per day on average.
Could new users please post a brief account of their first task(s) here so that we can check for problems in starting up?
Thanks, ivan

Hi,

Completed my first 2 tasks yesterday without a problem and got two more due to complete later this afternoon.

Using the 7.5.1 Boinc client as Beauty has large files but files received for current CMS-dev tasks are only about 1.4Gb.

All good so far :)

Hi, I am a fresh and new user ;-)

Downloaded the first WU and has already started to crunch.

I looked inside the VM (as learned by vLHC) and it is saying something like: Begin processing the 6th record. Run 1, Event 906, ...

So, I think all is running as it should ?

Cheers, Yeti

Yeti....I thought you were already here.......must have just been from seeing you over at Atlas at the same time as I was stopping by here.

Well I know you have plenty of cores especially right now with no Atlas tasks.

Am I correct that this CMS is just doing test work and not "real" project work? I would add more cores if I knew we were working on the latter.

Thanks!

Yes it is basically an alpha type development project and they are similar to the vLHC tasks of 24 hours each and one task per hosts (and credits)

I just use my free cores on my quads and 8-core for these and they run with no problems.

I didn't get any task since signing up for the LHCathome-dev project. Any explanation available ?

Go to your account and in the *Preferences* set it to receive ATLAS tasks and then you will get tasks and the huge .vdi at the same time.
(I guess I should add that Atlas tasks take 4GB of Ram at least to run a task and tend to use close to all 8 that you have on the one pc and these are multi-core)

From all my thousands of tests I would not run these with less than 8GB ram and a fairly fast ISP ....and your Android will not work here at all.
