As far as I understand the Simple Attach mechanism is now available on LHC@home. Please could someone with a Windows machine give it try at let me know whether or not it works. |

I suppose attaching with BOINC Simple View is meant. I detached the LHC-dev-project with BoincTasks and reattached with BOINC Manager Simple view and it worked (Win7). |

VM ScientificLinux 77 only advanced View is possible. A reboot of the system allowed simple View not - got Error. When changed to advanced all is good. https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/show_host_detail.php?hostid=3723 |

I suppose attaching with BOINC Simple View is meant. No. This. It will only work on the production project. |

I suppose attaching with BOINC Simple View is meant. I'm in the process. Two ways: The big Join LHC@home button in the middle (join.php) and at the right top the link 'Join' (signup.php) - Confusing Tested first the signup.php. Have to choose (nick)name, email, password, captcha, traffic lights, bicycles) not that simple and then You have not agreed to our terms of use. Please agree to the terms of use by navigating back to the previous page, in order to create your account where there was no possibility to agree. The second method 'join.php' is not simpler than it's now. |

You may want to try on Seti@home first to see how it should work. I think it is join.php |

You may want to try on Seti@home first to see how it should work. I think it is join.phpWhat a dishonorable proposal ! In all my BOINC years (almost 13), I avoided to touch SETI. Edit: I did (used the right upper join link) and came on a page to download BOINC. So no remark to agree! Choose already installed and continue. I got: Add SETI@home To add SETI@home on this computer: In the BOINC manager, go to the Tools menu Select Add Project Select SETI@home from the list Enter your SETI@home email address and password. So only an account is created and no connect to my computer, so I'm really wondering what is simpler to attach to a project. When I choose to install BOINC (normal download from Berkeley) and continue then, I come on a Welcome page, telling I'm connected to SETI, but I don't think so. https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/welcome.php Edit2: At least this is OK: Account Deleted Your account has been deleted. If you want to contribute to SETI@home in the future you will need to create a new account. |

Thanks for trying! I think that if you click not installed it should download a BOINC client that is already attached to the project. |

Thanks for trying! I think that if you click not installed it should download a BOINC client that is already attached to the project. You could be right. The 2 download links (BOINC and BOINC+VBox) are boinc_7.14.2_windows_x86_64__18_10877416_1707115c.exe and boinc_7.14.2_windows_x86_64_vbox__18_10877416_1707115c.exe where 10877416 is my new SETI-user-ID |

Does it also work like this for you on LHC@home?Join.php is nothing special. You have to install (when not done already) BOINC and attach to LHC the normal way with BOINC Manager. Can't still test the other way with the Signup.php-link. I still get after filling in name, e-mail and password (and captcha) "You have not agreed to our terms of use. Please agree to the terms of use by navigating back to the previous page, in order to create your account" mentioned before and no way to bypass that, cause nowhere to agree the terms of use. At SETI both JOIN-possibilities are linked with signup.php and not needed to agree the terms of use. |

To explain what's happening when follow up the simple attach when BOINC was not installed and getting the special BOINC-exe. I installed the special BOINC-exe with: boinc_7.14.2_windows_x86_64__18_10880058_2774b275.exe I suppose 18 is the SETI-project and the 10880058 is the user_id. The last part is probably an extra safety check. After the install in Boinc datadir a file named login_token.txt is placed with only the exe-filename in it. boinc_7.14.2_windows_x86_64__18_10880058_2774b275.exe After BOINC's start a file is returned named login_token_lookup_reply.xml with contents: <login_token_reply> <authenticator>abca5a8876c77604c30261fb1502dc68</authenticator> <user_name>TestUser01</user_name> </login_token_reply>In my test SETI is connected and have sent tasks. Don't worry. User is deleted. |
