Hi, I just wanted to ask some questions.
First: Is it normal that my getProxystderr file looks like this?:


Second: Another thing is that I cant connect to the VM console, shows me an unspecific error message from windows. Does this have something to do with Windows 10?

And third: My runGlideinerr file ends with these lines, is this normal?:

ls: cannot access : No such file or directory

That doesn't look normal, but it's beyond my area of expertise. Hopefully one of the CERN experts can comment.

I have the same issue with my 2 Windows 10 boxes. Hopefully that is one of the things Oracle is fixing so that Virtual box is Windows 10 compatible.

I've seen reports that VBox 5.0 isn't Win10 compatible. That's as far as my knowledge goes...

Oracle itself reports that VBox 5.0 isn't (yet) Win10 compatible. From the Oracle VBox download page:

Please be aware that Windows 10 is not yet officially supported! There are known problems with VirtualBox 5.0.2 on Windows 10 hosts and with Windows 10 guests. Some of the problems are fixed in the most recent test build which can be found here.

Guess we just have to wait for Oracle then.

Regarding the other problems I saw:
I got a new task in the evening and now everything seems fine, no such errors and actual work is done.

Since updated from Window 8.1 to Windows 10 I cannot see the VM consoles on vLHC@home. Now I have joined CMS-dev and this is also true. But I see the consoles on CERN Summer Challenge. My Virtual box is 4.3.30. The error message speaks of failed security because the identity of the remote computer cannot be verified. But it is 127.0.0.1. How come? BOINC is 7.4.42.

Please, upgrade your BOINC to 7.6.6 (or a patched Version)

Have you updated the Extension Pack to 4.3.30 too? These versions must match.

Yes, I always update. On Yeti's advice I have also updated my BOINC to 7.6.6.

From a Google search I found a site including a post which says that the Home edition of Windows 10, that is the free update from 8.1 does not include RDP. So long consoles, except those of CERN Summer Challenge that use a browser window (not Windows).

Not so sad, Tullio.

There are other possibilities except buying Windows 10 Pro.

Maybe Microsoft wants to sell an RDP-app.
Maybe TeamViewer works.

What cerlainly works: VirtualBox 5.0.2
From the VirtualBox Manager you can 'Show' the running VM's even when running in Headless mode.
When closing, choose the option 'Continue running in background'.

WBox 5.02 does not yet work in Windows 10.So I cannot install it. Also Firefox is giving me problems. Windows 8.1 was OK and I could go back to it within a month from the date of installation. When I get bored with Windows I shall install SuSE Linux. There is a new version coming called 42.1(?) and I will wait until then. Cheers.

The error messages are normal and don't affect running. I plan to do an update tomorrow afternoon that at least address the first error message.

Hopefully you will soon be able to run this CMS app the same way you ran the Summer Challenge. Watch this space ...

I just continue to use what works on any project and never upgrade VB since I am not interested in being a test member for Oracle.

I only went as new as Version: 4.3.28 because I changed that host to Windows 10 and I wanted to see if it would work or I would have just switched back to 4.3.18

But it does work with 4.3.28 and Windows 10 and Boinc 7.4.42

I did test 4.3.30 after I did a clean install of Win7 as a test and it works so I will stay there.

Version: 4.2.24 works on another host I have so I will continue.

Version: 4.3.18 is still running fine on my 8.1 but when I get the free time that one will be changed to Windows 10 and then I will try one of the newest ones I already know will work here and Atlas and vLHC

But of course I don't mind if anyone else wants to try to make different or newest combinations work on the VB tasks
