This version makes use of the same entrypoint script as the docker version. Support for local proxies needs to be added. |

How to test this VBox version? Not using WSL (not installed) and using BOINC v8.0.2 I get: 01-Apr-2025 13:20:55 [lhcathome-dev] No tasks are available for Theory Simulation 01-Apr-2025 13:20:55 [lhcathome-dev] A newer BOINC may be required for some tasks. When I use BOINC v8.1.0, I get tasks, but docker files are downloaded - not VBox ones - resulting in errors. https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/result.php?resultid=3392469 https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/result.php?resultid=3392487 |

It looks like the scheduler is preferring docker tasks over vbox tasks. This will probably all be fixed in the next BOINC server release but for now I have labeled the docker apps as beta apps so you will have to select Run test applications? from the preferences if you would like to run them. |

Run test applications not selected, requesting work and I get: 565 lhcathome-dev 01 Apr 17:08:20 Started download of vboxwrapper_26210_windows_x86_64.exe 566 lhcathome-dev 01 Apr 17:08:20 Started download of Theory_2025_04_01_dev.xml 569 lhcathome-dev 01 Apr 17:08:21 Started download of Theory_2025_04_01_dev.vdi Seems to work on Windows too. Edit: After Probe cvmfs/cvmfs-config.cern.ch... Task ended, but in stderr: "VM Heartbeat file specified, but missing." https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/result.php?resultid=3392514 https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/result.php?resultid=3392502 |

In reply to Laurence CERN's message of 1 Apr 2025: It looks like the scheduler is preferring docker tasks over vbox tasks. This will probably all be fixed in the next BOINC server release but for now I have labeled the docker apps as beta apps so you will have to select Run test applications? from the preferences if you would like to run them. Windows 7.39 (docker) 20 Mar 2025, 20:54:54 UTC work now with run test applications. btw: vEthernet (WSL (Hyper-V firewall)) is working now with 10 GBit/s for Docker Tasks in Win11pro. |

After Probe cvmfs/cvmfs-config.cern.ch... Task ended, but in stderr: "VM Heartbeat file specified, but missing."It seems the startup and init-phase of the 7.46-VM takes such a long time, that the VM don't place the heartbeat file on time into the shared folder. So I bypass that on two manners. First: Placed a heartbeat file myself to fake the wrapper. That works. After the VM had ran long enough (over 10 minutes) that file was touched by the VM every minute. https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/result.php?resultid=3392503 This task was succesful, but at the end no shutdown was placed into the shared folder. Second method: I increased the minimum_heartbeat_interval from 1200 to 1800.That works too. https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/result.php?resultid=3392530 The latter task did hang on Probe to sfc .... and did not processed events. |
