I think the issue is that your task names are too long for the code in 18/22, I made my own patched version of 18 as a workaround. the PR #7113 was the fix from David, so if you want a new wrapper then you would need one build from source after this PR, 22 does not contain this as it was made before the PR. I don't know about 22c where this was in the PR list. |

I built a patched 22 with the code cherry picked from PR #7113 and dropped it in to see if it fixes it. |

The Verbose = 2 does not work as they have in the wrapper code that the verbose flag is alway set to VERBOSE_STD, so it would need a tweek of the 22 code to restore the verbosity functionality. |

Is this anything to do with the Windows version? https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/result.php?resultid=3834874 https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/results.php?userid=192 |

its only in the Linux and macOS code so no effect for windows as windows uses a different code path to get the name of the container. |

In reply to Toby Broom's message of 9 Oct 2026: its only in the Linux and macOS code so no effect for windows as windows uses a different code path to get the name of the container.Very well investigated, Toby. What I don't understand is that this too long name convention was already discovered over half a year ago and was already patched. So that patch was forgetten in newer builds somehow. Luckily you build a workable version on time, cause your daily quota for that host was fast shrinking to zero after all those errors. |

they crashed after 60 s for almost every WU so it was not so hard to re-create the issue so it was quick and easy to replicate. Claude did most of the work to sugest commands to see what was happening, you could see the name of the WU/container name getting truncated at 256 characters. |
