Get no work - red line in event log "VirtualBox is not installed". Something that should have been auto-installed, or something that I need to download? No explanation on CMS site, nothing in boards on topic...

Looked at LHC@home, found link to download and install VirtualBox… that link should be on home page for CMS as well! So, downloaded and installed Mac OSX version. Tried CMS again. Same message. Back to LHC. "Join Us" page where link was. "How it works" at top right asks for email and password. Ones I used for CMS don't work. "New account" asks for (existing) email and password? WTF?

Mention had been made (NOT saying it was required!) of the "extension pack". Downloaded and installed. Try CMS again. Same message.

Okay, I give up! HELP!

Nine days and no response. Warnings on this and other projects that running BOINC with VirtualBox may damage SSDs through excessive log-file writings - again, with no staff response. Obviously CMS is not "ready for production" just yet. Will check back in a few months.

After reading boards and understanding project better, got it up and running fine on several Windows boxes. Still get "Virtualbox is not installed" on every attempt on Mac.

I understand the benefits to the project of VBox, but it looks like you're adding a level of (unnecessary?) complexity at the volunteer's end.

VBox IS installed, and, as far as I can tell, working. Double-clicking the icon launches the Virtualbox Manager, and trying to start a Windows session gives "no bootable medium found", which makes sense as I don't have Windows.

Oracle's "support" boards are next to useless - and obviously most volunteers for a project are not going to bother going anywhere other than the project (if that!) for support before giving up.

I don't have any experience of MACs but it seems that you were using wrapper 26169.

"<stderr_txt>
2015-10-07 15:11:12 (14620): vboxwrapper (7.7.26169): starting"

The current one for CMS is 26178 which you should get automatically. There were
changes made in 26176, explained in this thread
which helped with this problem.

Running VBox 5.0.8 now, whatever current wrapper is, still having same problem. Can't get any work as "VirtualBox is not running". Found similar case on another board, Rom 'fixed' BOINC, but I'm running the fixed version...

Just got project message of new wrapper that fixes problem - but trying to get a task still gives same error.

Silly question maybe... since the task isn't getting here and failing, but instead is never being sent at all, how is fixing the wrapper going to change anything?
