Please post here any issues/comments that are specifically related to the handling of BOINC credit.

Difficult to realize, I think, but credit based on real work done (jobs, events) is to be preferred over the BOINC credit new algorithm.
Fixed credit for a certain batch, because mostly the jobs differs per batch.

See the tasks of the 2 top hosts:

http://boincai05.cern.ch/CMS-dev/results.php?hostid=975
http://boincai05.cern.ch/CMS-dev/results.php?hostid=978

Only hanging around for 24 or 36 hours, but examining the cpu time and results, no work done at all.

Has anyone noticed a change in their granted credit per task (or per cpu-hour) lately? Unfortunately my machine hasn't received tasks for several days -- I just suspended seti@home to force some tasks but it will be >12 hours before they finish.

Has anyone noticed a change in their granted credit per task (or per cpu-hour) lately?

Yes I did.

After a bunch of CMS-tasks without a job for the run and therefore killed soon (so very short running tasks with almost no CPU) the credit was lowered.
But with the first task doing real jobs, the credit was still low, but meanwhile slowly rising.

That's the price for the use of BOINC's new-credit system.

I ran a CMS task overnight whilst also trying unsuccessfully for Theory tasks on an i3 laptop.

Approx 46k run, 43k cpu, 217 credit

Was the end of March when I last ran a working one on the same machine, that gave:

Approx 61k run, 54k cpu, 230 credit

Only used to get about 470 credits when running the previous 24 hour tasks.

I had a look through the stats for other similar machines, this one: http://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/vLHCathome-dev/show_host_detail.php?hostid=455 is currently getting the credits that I would expect. 455 is running Windows 8.1, 439 is still on XP, surely Windows hasn't got so much worse ?

Looking back to middle/beginning of March, machine 439 was also getting more normal credit for the tasks run then.

I'd expect an i7 running at 4+ GHz with SSD and fast internet to be getting about 1,200 per day if lucky. Can't see why a Xeon at 3.4GHz from 2011 would get 5 or 6 times that for a day.

So if the user hasn't done anything why is your project now giving out inflated credit to some machines and not others ?

I have been getting less than 10 credits for a full CMS task.
On t4t i am getting around 100 credits for a full CMS task.

I do not really care about credits, but it s definitly not working.

My experience on SETI@home is that a modern high-end CPU gets ~1,000/day/core, a low-end gets ~500/day/core and my Tegra ARM machine gets ~150/day/core. It'd be nice if we were somewhere near these figures, for the volunteers who care about these indicators.

I did, but most of those ran under Anonymous Platform with a Peak FLOPS of 0.00 GFLOPS. Had you plugged a slide rule into a USB port to do the calculations ?

This is a testing project.
Credits are not that important here.
The main concern is to get the apps working properly.

EDIT: seems your CMS tasks are not starting properly.
They only run for a few seconds/min.

Why? For me, as a cruncher, credits are just as important here, as in any other project. Credits are the only expression of appreciation project owners give us crunchers.
And here, by the way, the credits are VERY low.
