We have updated our development server to the latest BOINC server release. Please let us know if you spot any issues. The server may go down for a while if we need iterations on this. |

I noticed that, due to GDPR-compliance, a delete account possibility is added to the user's account home page. I cannot test it, cause I forgot the needed invitation code. If you want me to test, pse PM me the code. |

I wanted to test the account deletion. Test account https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/show_user.php?userid=555 After creation I changed the e-mail address to a proper one and now I've to wait 7 days. So waiting . . . . . |

Hello Nils and Laurence Thanks for stopping by I guess that update would be ok over at LHC but I really don't see what we would use it for here unless those fake accounts are finally going to be deleted here. (example : https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/top_users.php?sort_by=expavg_credit&offset=400 I also hope we don't start letting anyone from LHC to come over here since we don't need help here (we have a couple over there that would be a problem you won't like to see here)......I won't mention who The main thing we ever need is when we have one of those "server" problems that one of you visit once in a while to see that. And the stats pages here are still stuck on old stats so when things fail here it makes it hard to see if another member is having the same problem which show it is a "Cern server" problem.........like happened recently with LHCb here and I just switched back to Theory and wait for somebody to get a Valid LHCb so I can switch back to running just those again. And it is hard to even find out since you have to search around for a member actually doing any tasks and then check each computer they have to see if they are running certain project tasks to see if the same thing is happening for other member computers. Thanks (imagine that......I visit the LHC site and first thing I see is that clown that better never be allowed over here) |

The Server-Status page show a possible link to Github! Is this wanted? Server version: 1.0.1 (19a6483)) Edit: using Firefox Quantum 63.0.1 |

These users are left over from before we had the invitation code. They are not deleted by the delete spammers script for whatever reason.
No, it is invitation only. The only new people I expect here are the BOINC developers and project admins who may wish to test the new features on a real project.
The stats is something we need to investigate. |

Yes. So you can see the actual code behind the server. Maybe useful for debugging issues. You can also see if a project is running an official version or a custom version. |

Thanks for the feedback. I did a test account creation and deletion, it worked fine for me. The server sent a link to the email address of my test account that I had to validate before deleting the account. However, there are other GDPR features in the code that we have enabled in our configuration, but at least for me, it does not work as expected, the login and registration screens are like before. |

I wanted to test the account deletion. Test account https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/show_user.php?userid=555 My Test01 account (id=555) is gone without my confirmation. Maybe a diligent admin cleaning up the database? |

Is that the use of 'I'm not a robot' using Captcha ( completely automated public Turing test to tell computers and humans apart). I hate captcha's. |

That was my fault sorry. |

No, the expected features are on user consent etc. The Captcha stuff is something we have on our production project to avoid spammers. |

User consent should now be working. If you haven't already signed, you should get a notification when you log in. The terms of use should also be shown when you create a new account. The consent can be managed via the project preferences. |

Some comments regarding "General terms-of-use for this BOINC project." 1. I was logged in before the server update and my checkbox "Stay logged in" was checked. Thus "General terms ..." was not checked and I was not forced to check it. 2. I logged out and in again and got the form to agree to the terms-of-use. Without agreement I can't log in (that's how it should work). 3. On the prefs page it's not shown as a question. This may be confusing since it can be unchecked and as long as the user stays logged in there will not be any obvious change. I would suggest: - to place the links to the terms-of-use/data protection on the prefs page. - to force a logoff (+ show a warning) when the box is unchecked. |

If you switch to the alternative view the new options are not shown. |

https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/prefs.php?subset=project&cols=1 The link is hard to see as it is written in dark letters on the blue bar on top of the page. |

Feedback on the new opt-in and auto-attach features is welcome. After a read through, these points spring to mind. I'm sorry if they're somewhat ill-organised but if I don't do it now, I never will... Opt in " In order to by fully-compliant with GDPR, only allow users to create accounts through the Web site. " This seems to set the scene for frustrations and difficulties due to the large number of different browsers, versions, add ons, functions turned off etc. We get to the state of needing a later browser version which needs a later OS which needs new hardware... I know this can happen with other organisations but don't want LHC@home to be one of them. ******** There needs to be a proper way of drawing user's attention to any changes to the Ts and Cs.. ******* Perhaps a reminder similar to that shown on CERN's login page would also be a good idea. Something like this, maybe:- Remember: you have agreed to follow <this project's> Code of Conduct, and you have read our Privacy Notice. Not sure on which page this should appear... somewhere on the message boards index pages. There should also be links to both the Code and the Notice on each page. They're not easy to find at the moment. The page footer might well not be visible. Auto attach. Will prospective users be able to use different versions of software? For example client and manager from different versions, or no manager at all, or compile their own, or use third party versions or... Also bear in mind that we have all been fiddling around with BOINC and these web sites for some time. New users will find problems that we don't. There needs to be an easy to find "How to get going" or "If you're having trouble" page which allows people to ask for (and get) help before they sign up or agree to anything. Data "0 = Users are not given the option to delete their account (Default value)" If users are not allowed to delete (or amend) their own data, surely there must be a clear explanation of how they can get the project operators to do it, and make sure it's done in a timely manner. " 1 = User data is anonymized. This means that user records and host records are left in the database but personal information is replaced with nonsense data. Other user related records not required for processing are deleted. 2 = All user data is deleted. This means that all user related records are deleted from the database. 3 = Project defined implementation. Projects can implement a function in project.inc: project_delete_account ($user) and this function will then be used when a user delete's their account. " If one of these options is used, the user needs to be clearly told what will happen. |
