That would mean no fiddling like aborting, detaching, suspending, restarting etc.

BOINC isn't a clean world. All mentioned 'fiddling' is part of 'normal' behaviour by BOINC itself and BOINC users.

Your proposal is running the project under abnormal circumstances. It doesn't matter me, but the figures are polished then.

We still have network problems at the University, so I may not be able to submit new jobs in time. Don't give up, but spare a thought for my blood-pressure...

Just to get some baseline figures on the errors.

That is the aim.
By reducing any "fiddling", we would get the errors caused by the system itself in a "steady state".

Yes, it is not real world, but that is not the point.

Then, it can be established, how many additional errors of what type are caused by fiddling.

Or in other words, if a car does not even work on a smooth road, why test it on a bumpy field.

Phew! Connectivity restored with just 21 jobs left in the queue...
New batch of 2000 unleashed (and I also enabled the batch-of-two I submitted the other day when I was trouble-shooting with Leo. :-)

Well done!
Just in time.(again)

I was looking forward to seeing the tasks cycle.

Isn't that what would have happened?

Tja, I guess you could say we got lucky.
I thought things were being restored when I could sporadically log on via WiFi from my office at 1420, but I did notice that the signal was weak (the local access-point is in the corridor outside the office). On reflection, that might have been my picking up an AP in an adjacent building!

Looks like your 2-jobs-batch is being ignored.

AFAICT they're just waiting their slot in the queue.

I don't see any reason why those two jobs haven't run yet. :-/
The major batch is running down; I'm pleased with the failure rate reported by Dashboard! I'll give it another hour or so before the next batch (basically after I've finished tomorrow's crossword, due at midnight unless The Grauniad has another of its trademark failures...).

There are 5 failures from one IP address.Keeping fingers crossed for the remaining jobs.
I wonder, how many have followed the "don't fiddle" call?

How big is the next one going to be?

Are they all stahe-out failures?

Just another 2,000 for now. The submit is going slowly...
